Quick Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

2 cup self raising flour
4 tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup castor sugar
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs beaten lightly
2 tbsp golden syrup
2 tbsp butter

Equipment

Method

  1. preheat oven to 175C
  2. put flour, cocoa and sugar in a bowl
  3. melt butter and combine in bowl with beaten egg, golden syrup and milk
  4. stir with a large spooon
  5. grease cake tin with butter and flour
  6. spoon mixture into tin
  7. bake approximately 40 minutes at 175C until fork comes out cleanly
  8. cover with foil if the top is cooking faster than the middle
  9. cool in tin then turn out and decorate

Notes

this recipe is perfect for shaped cake tins as it holds together very well. for castle cake you need a double batch

keeps in the fridge for a few days
