Ingredients
| 2 1/3 cup |
White flour |
| 4 tsp |
Baking powder |
| 1 tsp |
Cinnamon |
| 2 tbsp |
Raw castor sugar |
| 60 g |
Butter |
| 175 mL |
Milk |
| 1 |
Egg |
| 100 g |
Dried pitted dates |

Flour for kneading |

Milk for glazing |
Equipment
- Baking tray
- 2.5cm scone cutter
- Mixing bowl
Method
- Oven to 180C fan forced
- Dice dates into 8 pieces each
- Combine flour, baking powder and cinnamon
- Cut butter into cubes, rub into flour mix
- Add sugar to flour mix
- Combine egg and milk make a well in the flour and pour in milk mix, cut together with a knife to make a moist dough
- Add dates and tip onto floured surface
- Knead lightly and press to 2cm thick
- Cut out and place on greased baking tray
- Brush with milk
- Bake 10 minutes, perhaps a few minutes longer
Notes
Serve with butter and/or jam and cream
