Bread and Butter Pudding

Prep time10 minutes + 15 minutes stand time

2 slices of white bread
1 egg
125 mL milk
1 tsp white sugar
1/4 cup dried fruit - eg sultanas / dates / raisins
1/2 tsp cinnamon



  1. preheat oven to 175C fan forced
  2. butter bread on both sides and cut into triangles
  3. cut dried fruit into smaller pieces (not necessary if you like big chunks)
  4. grease an oven proof dish with deep sides
  5. layer the bread and fruit in the dish
  6. combine egg, milk, sugar and cinnamon and beat together
  7. pour egg mix over bread
  8. leave to soak in for a minimum of 15 minutes
  9. bake approximately 30 minutes or until egg set
  10. eat hot


for a larger pudding double the ingredients and increase the cooking time

for individual serve puddings cut the bread into smaller pieces
