Ingredients
    
        
        
            
                | 2 cup | self raising flour | 
        
            
                | 4 tbsp | cocoa powder | 
        
            
                | 1 cup | castor sugar | 
        
            
                | 3/4 cup | milk | 
        
            
                | 3/4 cup | vegetable oil | 
        
            
                | 2 | eggs beaten lightly | 
        
            
                | 2 tbsp | golden syrup | 
        
            
                | 2 tbsp | butter |

        - oven
- cake tin - fancy shape always good
Method
    
    
        - preheat oven to 175C
- put flour, cocoa and sugar in a bowl
- melt butter and combine in bowl with beaten egg, golden syrup and milk
- stir with a large spooon
- grease cake tin with butter and flour
- spoon mixture into tin
- bake approximately 40 minutes at 175C until fork comes out cleanly
- cover with foil if the top is cooking faster than the middle
- cool in tin then turn out and decorate
Notes
    this recipe is perfect for shaped cake tins as it holds together very well.  for castle cake you need a double batch
keeps in the fridge for a few days
